Project Overview

The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY)’s Smart Compost program encourages composting and reduces waste by providing bins and collection services for residents. The program includes an app, NYC Smart Compost, available for Android and iOS, which opens the composting bins and composts the scraps for city green spaces.
